For nearly 90 years, 20 Garlic Row housed a cattery, but following the impact of the pandemic and a broader move towards animal fostering, in 2021 the facility was closed. It has remained vacant ever since. NEUBAU is proud to have achieved a very positive pre-app for its redevelopment, garnering strong support for a dense, community-conscious residential development on a uniquely complex site.

The 0.25ha site is located right on the threshold between two distinct areas, one residential, the other light industrial and commercial. At this stage, the programme for the scheme is still open to several options including student accommodation, build-to-rent and co-living – a typology recently promoted in the latest draft of the new local plan.
